The Firm has been serving clients in the community since 1977. The practice initially was a general practice with an emphasis on real property transactions, including representation of residential home buyers and sellers, contractors and developers in residential and commercial real estate. Today, the primary area of the practice continues to be real property practice. However, one of the partners, Christopher Willett, also practices extensively in educational law representing parents, teachers and administrators with various claims related to school system disputes. Small business matters, wills and trusts and guardianship matters are also practiced routinely. Client –centered services is the focus of the firm.

REAL ESTATE
Representing With Respect
The firm handles all forms of real property practice with the exception of real estate litigation, although the firm does provide consultation about real estate litigation matters to clients and other attorneys. The firm represents residential real estate buyers and sellers, commercial real estate buyers and sellers. The firm also represents municipal governments in purchase or sale transactions and other real property matters. Comprehensive residential closing services are provided for buyers and sellers with properties in Orange, Durham, Chatham, Wake and Alamance Counties. Comprehensive commercial closing services are provided for any property in North Carolina. Delivery of residential and commercial real practice services involves working relationships with title insurance companies, lenders, realtors, surveyors and other related vendors that may be involved in a particular transaction.
The firm routinely reviews and drafts residential or commercial contracts; restrictive covenants; easements; homeowners associations documents; condominium, townhouse and subdivision documents; and reviews surveys and recorded plats; assists surveyors and planning engineers as needed in subdivision development; and represents builders and developers including representation before local elected officials and boards.

School-based disputes can be very confusing and stressful, often fraught with layer upon layer of complexity. We take pride in helping administrators, teachers, parents and students navigate the bureaucratic minefield of school law. Our education law practice covers a variety of issues that arise from preschool to graduate school. We routinely handle student disciplinary matters, employment disputes, special education matters, assignment appeals, grievances, and other disputes in the school context.
WAYNE R. HADLER
Wayne R. Hadler has been the principal owner of Beemer, Hadler & Willett, P.A. since the retirement of Charles G. Beemer in June, 1996.
Mr. Hadler specializes in residential and commercial real estate, working with consumer clients, developers, builders, lending institutions and government agencies. He has complex knowledge of the purchase and sale of real property transactions including the details of real property title, contracting, loan documents, title insurance, government zoning regulations and the development approval process with regulatory officials. His secondary practice areas are small business, wills, trusts and competency proceedings. Mr. Hadler has also been active for many years within the Orange County court system providing Guardian ad Litem services for indigent respondents.
Mr. Hadler graduated Cum Laude from the University of Miami in 1975 with undergraduate (A.B.) degrees in Psychology and Sociology. A year later, he received a Masters in Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis. Mr. Hadler then went on to receive his J.D. from North Carolina Central University in 1988. He was admitted to the North Carolina Bar that same year. Mr. Hadler is also licensed to practice in the United States District Court, North Carolina Eastern, Middle and Western Districts as well as the United States Court of Appeals Fourth Circuit.
Mr. Hadler enjoys working with people from all walks of life and building relationships with his clients. His background as a clinical social worker provides a basis for his practitioner style. From 1977 to 1989, he was employed by the Alamance-Casewell Mental Health Center in Burlington, North Carolina and during his tenure, worked as a substance abuse social worker, clinical social worker and served as the Director of Adult Services for the agency prior to entering into the practice of law. During the 1990s, he was an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina School of Social Work, where he taught Social Work and the Law.
Mr. Hadler has enjoyed serving on various Boards during his years of law practice. From 1990 through 1996, he served on the Chapel Hill Planning Board, becoming Chairperson in 1994. He also served on the Board of the OPC Foundation of Mental Health, Inc. in its formative years, working to establish the organization’s structure. More recently, Mr. Hadler has served on the Community Housing Alternatives, Inc. Board. He has been an active member of Judea Reform Congregation, serving on its Board for many years. He also served years on the Board for the North Carolina Hillel.
Mr. Hadler resides in Carrboro with his wife, Kate, and their dog, Daisy. He has four children: Jessica, Michael, Marissa and Asher. Mr. Hadler is a recreational runner and is often seen running around town on the trails or at local running events. He enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with friends and family.
CHRIS WILLETT
Chris Willett became a partner in Beemer, Hadler & Willett in 2008. His primary practice areas are education law and real estate law, but he also provides legal representation to his clients in the areas of estate planning, business incorporation, contract review, and estate planning.
Mr. Willett’s education law practice ranges across the primary, secondary, post-secondary, and private contexts. He previously represented the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools and worked as Assistant University Counsel at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His school clients have also included public and private schools, professional associations, non-profit educational foundations, the North Carolina School Boards Trust, school administrators, professors, teachers, teacher assistants, parents, staff, and students. He has represented clients with respect to state and federal lawsuits, mediations, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission complaints, Office for Civil Rights complaints, internal and OAH administrative hearings, Board hearings, Individualized Education Plan meetings, grievances, and employee dismissals. Mr. Willett also previously taught Education Law as an Adjunct Professor at the University of North Carolina School of Law.
Mr. Willett graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1995 and he graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Law in 2000. Mr. Willett was admitted to the North Carolina Bar in 2000, and was admitted to the Middle District of North Carolina in 2006. He resides in Durham with his wife, son and daughter. In his free time, he enjoys watching live music, playing basketball, and following his beloved Tar Heels and Jayhawks.
